On Sunday, June 25, Chester County Hospital will host its 19th Annual Brandywine Valley Heating & Air Conditioning Challenge for Cancer Bike Tour.
For newbie and experienced bicyclers alike, this altruistic ride includes 5-, 10-, 25-, 50- and 65-mile course options that roll through the beautiful Chester County countryside.
The tour, which kicks off at 7 a.m. from Fern Hill Medical Campus in West Chester, benefits The Abramson Cancer Center at Chester County Hospital as well as Neighborhood Health.
Shine up your bike and challenge yourself to pedal for a wonderful cause!
Leisurely and Competitive Options
The Challenge for Cancer Bike Tour has options for all ages. Make memories and a positive impact on the community together by partaking in the family ride, which kicks off with breakfast, then a 5-mile tour followed by a sensational barbecue. Kids will love the bouncy castles, face painting and balloons in this year’s finish line Kids Zone.
Those up for a greater challenge can opt for the 10-, 25-, 50- and 65-mile tours along a rambling rural route. It’s an exceptional way to boost your own well-being while supporting those within the community.
Let camaraderie carry you along by signing up as a team. Form your own squad or invite your company to act as a sponsor. Donations can be made on the fundraising website, which hosts the team pages. Friends, family and companies can support your efforts through single or matching donations. The top three fundraisers overall will receive gift cards to Bike Line, Delaware and Pennsylvania’s premiere bicycle retail chain.
Big Benefits
Beyond the exhilaration of riding, the Challenge for Cancer Bike Tour offers all of those involved the deeper gratification of helping to ease the lives of those impacted by cancer.
The Abramson Cancer Center at Chester County Hospital is bringing the latest treatments and highest level of care to its patients. Likewise, the Neighborhood Health program brings high-quality healthcare to those who need home care or hospice. Patients are assisted with transportation, rehabilitation, utility bills, prescriptions, massage therapy, support groups and more, with quality of life as the central focus.
As beneficiaries of the bike tour, these centers and programs are aided in their mission to give each patient every advantage in their battle with this disease. Having medical expertise in the community is possible in part because of the Chester County community’s support with events such as this annual Challenge.
Survivorship Celebration
New to the event this year, the Challenge or Cancer committee is hosting the 1st Annual Survivorship Celebration, where Abramson Cancer Center at Chester County Hospital patients and their families are invited for a complimentary day of family fun. There will be home-style BBQ on the grill, live music and games in conjunction with our Challenge for Cancer Bike Tour.
The Survivorship Celebration is a great opportunity to meet and mingle with other survivors and their families, The Abramson Cancer Center at Chester County Hospital staff and Challenge for Cancer Bike Tour participants!
Behind the Scenes: Volunteer, Donate or Sponsor!
Not quite up for the tour this year? Volunteers are more than welcome to sign up ahead of time or the day of the event. Many hands make light work, and help is always appreciated with registration, road marshalling and parking. All volunteers receive a t-shirt for proudly displaying their support of the great event. Those interested in volunteering or hearing more about what’s needed can contact Kate Pergolini at (610) 431-5054 or [email protected].
For a less hands-on support of the tour, anyone near or far can make an online donation to help The Chester County Hospital Foundation reach (or exceed!) its goal of $10,000. Donations can be made generally or in support of your favorite bicycling team.
Sponsorship is a wonderful way to make your philanthropic efforts work for your business. Get your company’s logo on tour t-shirts, a course map and as part of myriad event promotionals. Complimentary rider entries, food and beverages and Kids Zone access only sweeten the deal. Check out more on sponsorship benefits and packages online, or contact Lauren Roscovich at (610) 431-5328 or [email protected].
