Lansdale beverage purveyors Boardroom Spirits and Round Guys Brewing Company have joined forces to create Sun Bear, an American amber ale with a philanthropic mission.
Sun Bear is the first in a line of collaborations from Boardroom and Round Guys, where a portion of the proceeds will benefit an area organization. Two hundred gallons of Sun Bear have been brewed with both companies pledging to each donate a portion of every beer sold to the Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, in support of the Center’s conservation efforts. Boardroom will donate $1 of every can it sells, while Round Guys will donate $1 of every draft it pours.
Sun Bear is a limited release, 7.7% ABV, lightly carbonated American amber ale brewed with farmhouse yeast and guava. This crisp, unfiltered, citrusy summer ale boasts a pleasant, creamy mouthfeel similar to nitro beers. Boardroom Spirits created the recipe based on its operations team’s preferences, and Round Guys executed it flawlessly.
“We’re thrilled to finally release this beer,” said Scott Rudich, owner at Round Guys Brewing Company. “Ever since we met the gang at Boardroom, we’ve been talking about starting off a series of beer collaborations. Our time, energy and patience have definitely paid off. Sun Bear is an excellent product that will benefit an excellent organization I’m proud to support.”
“There are very few differences that go into making a superior beer versus a superior spirit,” said Marat Mamedov, founder of Boardroom Spirits. “It’s about quality ingredients and chemistry, and we’ve harnessed that perfectly with Sun Bear. It’s the ideal summer sipper, and I can’t wait to get back in the lab to whip up the next Boardroom Round Guys concoction.”
Sun Bear is available on draft for $6 at Round Guys Brewing Company’s brewpub, and Boardroom Spirits is selling the $8, 16-ounce cans in its tasting room alongside its iconic cocktails. Another spot to grab this fundraising-centric brew is at Lansdale’s Backyard Beans, where 4-packs of the 16-ounce cans are available for purchase for $15.
