Philly Spots to Let the Good Times Roll This Mardi Gras Season

Even if you’re not in New Orleans this Mardis Gras season, you can still let the good times roll in Philadelphia! Check out these five Philly spots to laissez les bon temps rouler:

Brauhaus Schmitz

Starting at noon on Fat Tuesday, also National Fasnacht Day, pastry chef Jessica Nolen will be dishing out these delightful goodies at Brauhaus Schmitz. The cost is $8 per order (cash only) with dipping sauces available for an additional $1, including Nutella, molasses, Bavarian cream and fruit jam. Red Owl Tavern

Stop into Red Owl Tavern for a New Orleans-inspired cocktail, the Nola Fashioned. This ideal Mardi Gras sipper features rye whiskey; pecan simple syrup; Café du Monde bitters created by Red Owl’s lead bartender, Kyle Darrow, with coffee and chicory grounds sourced from the famed New Orleans establishment; a coffee-infused ice rock; and a confectioners sugar rim. 433 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, (215) 923-2267

Rex 1516

On February 28, join in on the Fat Tuesday celebration at Rex 1516. Patrons will enjoy The Mardi Gras Citywide special featuring The King’s Cake Burger, an 8-ounce beef patty topped with Cooper cheddar, bacon, lettuce and a house-made pickle on a traditional King’s Cake roll, as well as a pint of Newbold and shot of Jim Beam’s Devil’s Cut for $17.

Bartenders will also be mixing up a festive Falernum Hurricane ($7) made with aged rum, white rum and falernum, a syrup flavored with almond, ginger, cloves, lime and vanilla.
