Monk’s Café is going totally local on July 18 from 7–10 p.m. with Tom Peters’ Annual Local Foods and Local Beers Dinner.
In its 24th year, this popular limited-seating event, which will welcome George and Nancy of Home Sweet Homebrew, serves up a six-course beer pairing dinner featuring local brews, local cuisine and an overall unforgettable evening. The lucky attendees will enjoy the following:

Stoudt’s Pilsner
by Carol Stoudt, the matriarch of the Philadelphia Craft Beer movement
Tomato Gazpacho
with squid and house-smoked chili oil
Second Course
Oxbow Saison Rosé
by Mike Fava, formerly of Nodding Head BrewPub. Tom & Felicia blended a collaboration,
inspired by this beer, with Fava in honor of their 20th Anniversary
Arugula Salad
with local berries, house-pickled rhubarb and Shellbark Sharp goat cheese
Third Course
Second District Camellia Sinesis
by Curt Decker (Nodding Head Brewery and 2nd District) and
Ben Potts (formerly of Dock Street and Dogfish Head)
Seared Scallop
with local vegetables and a gastrique made from Second District’s Red Room
Fourth Course

Fresh Corn Polenta
with local coarse ground corm meal and fresh corn, topped with a poached duck egg

Dogfish Head SeaQuench Ale

with potato salad, blackened green beans and, fresh from Tom’s garden, cucumber salad

the debut of a collaboration with Master Blenders Lauren Limbach and Eric Salazar; Chris Black of Denver’s famed Falling Rock bar and Monk’s Café’s Tom & Felicia
Chocolate Cherry Bread Pudding
with Metropolitan Bakery bread and topped with a buttermilk whipped cream
All menu items were sourced locally, and the creative dishes are the product of chefs Keith Ballew, Oniel Bryan and Andrew Gaspar’s culinary expertise!
Due to the popularity of this annual event, there are only a few tickets remaining: four seats at a table for four and three individual seats. The cost is $110 per person, which includes taxes and tip.
