Gumbo and Slider Throwdown at French Quarter Bistro

This Wednesday, April 13, three kitchen crusaders will flex their culinary muscles to determine which of the area’s chefs can claim ultimate gumbo and slider supremacy here in Phoenixville!

Competitors Mark Van Horn of French Quarter Bistro, Mike and Jenn Tavenner of LePan Catering and Max Cucuzza of Eleanor’s Kitchen will battle out their top-notch variations of gumbo and sliders for the judging public—all with hopes to receive the winning crown for concocting the food throwdown’s best dish!

Following the widely successful Jambalaya and BBQ (recap here) throwdowns held both last year, LePan Catering and French Quarter Bistro have decided to battle it out again, this time adding a third competitor to the heated mix (enter: Eleanor’s Cucuzza).

This third installment of French Quarter Bistro’s food competition will follow similar suit as before, being reminiscent of Travel Channel’sFood Wars” where teams battle over one dish to see who’s capable of doing it the best, with the winner selected through a blind taste-test by three food-savvy judges (two of which will be Phoenixville Dish’s own foodies: myself, Amy Strauss and Mary Bigham).

Don’t worry, attendees get to play a part in the judging, too. Ballots will be handed out to all guests and the crowd gets to seal the deal of who has the best soup and slider in town!

In addition to spending your evening feasting over well-done dishes, the special event will also feature great giveaways (including prize packs from Bridge Street Chocolates, Royersford Ata Martial Arts, Alura Salon and Spa, and more), live entertainment and top-notch drink specials. French Quarter Bistro announces that to coincide with Throwdown 3, as well, the evening is sponsored by Stone Brewing Company and will feature pours from the “big character” San Diego brewery.

Want in on the mouthwatering action? Tickets for the event are $20 per person, which includes a feast booming with bowls of gumbo and plates of sliders. You don’t want to miss the local (and incredible) kitchen talent that will be found at this midweek event. So, swing by, grab some pints of the notoriously-cheeky brews and get ready to see the local competitive edge unravel.
