Pop-up bars and restaurants have been all the rage in Philly this summer, but only one takes you to the tippy top of the city: Bar 57 on the 57th floor of the One Liberty Observation Deck. This cocktail lounge in the sky debuted last fall, with immediate popularity—tickets for both pop-up events in 2016 sold out, with the deck filled to capacity with people enjoying sips and sunsets from the unique location. This year, Bar 57 is back and better than ever.
“We experienced a high level of success with the initial launch of Bar 57 last year and we couldn’t wait to bring this concept back,” said Jennifer Hesser, assistant general manager at One Liberty Observation Deck. “Bar 57 allows us to take advantage of the unique space we have at the Observation Deck and combine exceptional views with great spirits, creating an exclusive experience for all who attend this unique event.”
For the second run of Bar 57, One Liberty Observation Deck has partnered with Craft Concepts Group (you know it as the parent company of Cinder, Bru Craft & Wurst, U-Bahn, Finn McCool’s Ale House and Uptown Beer Garden) to bring Philadelphians back up to the top for a monthly series of Thursday evening events. The first of these limited engagements is Thursday, September 21, followed by October 19, November 16 and December 14. Each pop-up event will take place from 6–9 p.m., and will feature cocktails made from Federal Distilling’s Stateside Urbancraft Vodka, a Kensington-based craft distillery. A cash bar and pay-as-you-go light fare will also be on offer. A different DJ will be in the house each night, providing good-time jams to help make happy hour even happier. DJ Royale will kick things off on September 21.
Tickets are $14 at the door and $10 (plus a small processing fee) when purchased in advance online. Each Thursday evening is likely to sell out again this year, so picking up tickets ahead of time is strongly encouraged. Remember to bring your valid ID to purchase boozy beverages.
Can’t make it to the Bar 57 pop-ups? Starting October 1, the One Liberty Observation Deck will be open regularly from 10 a.m.–8 p.m., Monday through Sunday, for the fall/winter season.
