Main Line Dish needed a caffeine fix, so we asked our knowledgeable fans on Facebook where we could get the best cup of coffee on the Main Line. Lucky for us, it seems as if there is no shortage of great java in the area. Here are your top picks.

Saxbys Haverford

Saxbys, a Philadelphia-founded and -headquartered coffee brand, has been serving up java, cappuccino and espresso in Haverford since 2009. With an inviting interior and free wifi, it is the perfect place to catch up with a friend or get some work done. This Saxbys location also serves breakfast and lunch sandwiches, salads, frozen yogurt and smoothies.

Pour Richards Coffee Company

Pour Richard’s Coffee Company debuted in Devon at the end of 2013 and has taken the Main Line by storm. Several readers responded that this was their new favorite locale to grab a cup of joe. PA Eats’s Editor in Chief, Amy Strauss, shares that “every Wednesday afternoon, from 1–3 p.m., (you can) experience a public cupping, organized weekly to expose and teach interested patrons about the many characteristics of a well-roasted coffee bean.” Pour Richard’s menu includes quiches, salads, sandwiches and pastries baked daily by Wayne’s Tredici Italian Market.

Gryphon Cafe

Do you like a little art or music with your coffee? If so, then the Gryphon Cafe is where you want to get your coffee fix. In addition to fantastic coffee drinks, you can indulge in soups, salads and sandwiches. Gryphon Cafe has a stellar vegetarian-friendly menu including such favorites as hummus, cheese plates and grilled portabello or eggplant sandwiches. Come for the coffee, but stay for the live music, open mic nights and local art on the walls.

Town Hall Coffee Company

Located in Merion Station, Town Hall Coffee offers coffee from several of the best roasters in the country, not just a single wholesaler. Their coffee is never more than two weeks off the roast and is poured by knowledgeable baristas. The menu has staple offerings of scones, muffins, cookies and croissants, but they frequently feature special off-menu items and limited-run food and drinks so be sure to ask. There is free wifi and plenty of outlets to plug in and get some work done.

Sophie’s Cafe

New to Wayne in 2013, Sophie’s Cafe not only serves a great cup of coffee, but also traditional American-style breakfast and lunch including pancakes, eggs, fresh slab cut bacon, sausage, home fries, lunch sandwiches and salads. Owner Matt Shore brings intriguing desserts from his center city shop, Scoop DeVille, into the mix like a fresh-baked Belgian waffle, buttered up and served with a scoop of butterscotch vanilla ice cream, covered with sliced bananas, and drizzled with warm caramel.

Caffe Craze

Located across from the Malvern train station, Caffe Craze is the perfect stop in the morning for the busy commuter. Their coffee and espresso drinks are all locally roasted and they also have a variety of loose-leaf teas. Grab a locally made bakery item, a yogurt parfait, smoothie or breakfast sandwich before jumping on the train to work. A few years ago they began micro-brewing their own brand of chai, Chaikhana Chai, that is sold at the shop, online and throughout the region.
