Eating Your Way Through The Market at Liberty Place

Market at Liberty snowAs Kennett Square’s newest food sensation, The Market at Liberty Place quickly answers the constant question nagging any hungry person’s brain: What should I eat?

The answer: Whatever you want!

Set up as an open-air market, The Market at Liberty Place has become a central gathering place for locals and tourists alike. Geoff Bosley, part of the father-son owner duo, is proud of the newly renovated space and what it offers to Kennett Square. The name is derived from the building’s steel foundation, which came from a WW II Liberty Ship. Making transformations through the years from furniture store to department store to healthcare headquarters and now an open-air market, The Market at Liberty Place is sitting on an amazing history.

Now, when hunger strikes, customers can step inside and choose from an array of options from one (or more!) of the Market’s eight food vendors. As one person grabs a crepe, another chomps down on a cheesesteak and others sip on smoothies. Paired with weekly live music and fun events, The Market at Liberty Place is one of the more versatile and entertaining food spots in the area.

Have a craving and need to narrow down your options? Here is what The Market at Liberty Place has to offer:

George & Son’s Seafood

With 26 years of experience, George & Son’s is one of the area’s premiere seafood vendors. Fish are delivered daily, and customers can find everything from fish and shellfish to marinades and seafood-specific utensils. If seafood is what you are craving, check out their famous crabcakes or delectable fish tacos.

Nourish Juice Bar & Cafe

Nourish 2 Nourish

Nourish reminds us that eating can taste good and be good for you! With a focus on healthy, local and organic, stop here for everything from smoothies and coffee to gluten-free flatbreads and quiche. The muffins are a great dessert treat (and don’t leave without a wheatgrass shot)!

Paradocx Vineyard

Paradocx

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right? Paradocx, named for the “pair of doc(tor)s” who own and operate the vineyard, has become a well-known Chester County fixture. The Market wine bar is an extension of their Landenberg wine facilities. Pull up a stool to sample several of their great wines or grab a hard cider to enjoy while you eat your dinner. Wine is also available by the bottle or paint can!

Punk’d Pineapple

A familiar treat for those who have visited Disney World, Pineapple Whips are now a staple in Kennett Square. Even in the midst of a cold winter, it’s hard to not feel like you are in the islands when you walk up to place your order! Enjoy the gluten-free, dairy-free fruit soft-serve option, or go with the traditional chocolate or vanilla. But make sure to save room for the tasty toppings (we especially love the candied pretzels).

Rick’s Steaks

Rick's Steaks

There is nothing that screams “Philadelphia” more than the iconic Philly Cheesesteak. And who better to serve up a steak than the grandson of Pat Oliveri, the man who founded The Cheesesteak? Rick Oliveri, a transplant from Reading Terminal Market, brings the soul of Philly to Chester County each day at Rick’s Steaks. Not only can you get a traditional “Whiz, wit,” but Rick offers chicken, vegetable and vegan options as well.

State Street Pizza & Grill

It’s rare that classic Italian fare doesn’t hit the spot. State Street Pizza & Grill offers all of your favorite comfort foods such as stromboli, calzones and, of course, pizza. This is a great place for kids, as pizza and chicken fingers are easy options for picky eaters. A great appetizer is their broccoli and cheese bites.

Terra Foods

MLP

As The Market at Liberty Place’s newest vendor, Terra Foods is a welcomed sight for locavores. This is Kennett Square’s newest “buy fresh, buy local” grocer. Much like a mini-farmer’s market, customers can find the freshest in produce and dairy as well as jams, baked goods, flowers and greeting cards. A one-stop shop for your grocery needs!

Yo’R So Sweet

Yo'r So Sweet

Although we can’t always hop a plane to France, visitors can enjoy the decadent French cuisine experience at The Market. Crepes, their globally inspired staple, can be ordered in savory or sweet. Pick up a light crepe, topped with fruit, for a hearty breakfast, or try their mouth-watering Thai Chicken crepe for lunch or dinner. Gluten-free options are also available. Ending the meal with a Nutella crepe, complete with diced bananas, is divine, so be sure to leave room for dessert!

The Market at Liberty Place is located at 148 W. State St., Kennett Square, PA. They are also on Facebook, Twitter and the Web.
