East Branch Brewing Company Readying for Late Summer Opening

It’s summer, and while the rest of Downingtown is enjoying the sun, the guys at East Branch Brewing Company are working tirelessly to open their doors. After taking over a portion of the former Minquas Fire Station and Molly Maguire’s spot along Business Route 30, Dylan Meanix and Kevin McGovern, brewery partners and general BFFs, hope to breathe new life into the east end of Downingtown.

McGovern says they’re currently working on fitting the steam and glycol systems and hope to be brewing their first batch of beer on-site in August. Like many brewery upstarts, they’ve been creating small batches of beer on a home-brew system and sampling their work as they go.

The duo plans to open East Branch first as a tasting room, with food trucks invited to their parking lot to provide bites to hungry guests. Eventually, they hope to see the front of the building or second floor transformed into a restaurant, perhaps a BBQ joint, to pair with their brews. Further expansion might even include a rooftop bar. The sky is quite literally the limit for Meanix and McGovern. Onward and upward!

Meanix and McGovern are planning on serving up their first beers to the public by late summer. In addition to selling pints and growlers, they’re adding crowlers to their list of beer vessels.
