The heat is on, and the grills are starting to fire up as Wilmington prepares for the sixth annual Delaware Burger Battle. This tenacious throwdown will be held at the lovely Cauffiel House in North Wilmington on Saturday, August 26, starting at noon.
Over the years, this fierce competition has served more than 16,000 burgers to over 3,000 guests—that’s approximately five burgers per person! Most importantly, all proceeds are donated to the following local organizations:
- Delaware ProStart, which teaches young adults practical skills and offers real-life experiences in everything from culinary techniques to management skills. The program is currently implemented in 18 high schools all over the state.
- Ministry of Caring’s Emmanuel Dining Room, which provides more than 168,000 meals a year to Delaware residents in need.
With dozens of restaurants staking claim for best burger, you’ll want to come with a hearty appetite. Guests are welcome to sample as many burgers they can handle! From meatless, vegan-friendly munches to hefty hunks of juicy beef, there’s something for every palate here. And you’ll want to try as many as possible, because your vote helps determine the People’s Choice Winner! A panel of local foodie celebrities will in attendance to determine the Critics’ Choice Winner.
Competitors include Grub Burger Bar, Brick Works Brewing and Eats, Home Grown Local Café, Chelsea Tavern and many others.
In addition to burgers, there’ll be plenty of brews, too! This year’s exclusive beer sponsor is Standard Distributing Company. There’s no limit on the beverage samplings, either! Soft drinks will be available, too.
All ages are welcome, but please note this is not a pet-friendly event. Tickets are currently on sale and priced as follows: Early bird discount, $45; general adult, $50; teen or a designated driver, $30; children (ages 5‒12), $10. All ticket purchases include a service fee.
