The Delco Story Slam returns to Burlap and Bean on Wednesday, March 27, and theme for the night is “Guilty Pleasures.”
What type of stories fit this month’s theme?
Everyone has some type of guilty pleasure that is a little embarrassing. Perhaps this pleasure is something food related, like ice cream late at night or chocolate chip cookies. Some people secretly watch old sitcoms on Netflix, but are embarrassed to tell their friends. Maybe someone in your family had an odd collection that brought them a bizarre pleasure. Some people have interesting obsessions as a child or teen that they eventually outgrow. Maybe the whole family shares a guilty pleasure?
The Delco Story Slam is a monthly storytelling event where anyone can get on stage and tell a story based on the theme of the night. No notes, no props, no music. Just the storyteller and a mic. The winner of each month’s Story Slam is invited to return for the Grand Slam in November, where the winners will go head-to-head for the title of Best Storyteller of Delco! Advance tickets for the March event can be ordered here. Like Delco Story Slam on Facebook or follow on Twitter for all the latest updates.
What are these stories like? Here’s a short, very funny story that was told at February’s Delco Story Slam by John Fitzgerald. The theme of this story slam was Open Wound.
