As reported today in The Daily Local, Georgio Malle of Georgio’s Restaurant and Bar on East Lancaster Avenue is literally digging into Lancaster Avenue.
Joining Malle in an outdoor dining expansion is Amani’s BYOB, as well.
But, for Georgio’s $50,000 project, which will include a patio paved with Arizona flagstones and enclosed by decorative wrought iron railings and plantings, he intends to expand his seating to now offer 80 seats outdoors.
As Gretchen Metz detailed in today’s story, Malle has been involved in the local restaurant business for many years.
He opened his first restaurant, Palace Pizzeria, in 1977. In 1983, he opened the first Georgio’s Restaurant at Wallace and Lancaster avenues, which served breakfast and lunch. In 1987, Georgio began construction of his current restaurant. It opened in 1990.
Georgio’s menu has blossomed from simple offerings of pizza and cheesesteaks, to Greek specialties like rack of lamb and baklava. A highlight of our recent dining experience at the East Lancaster Avenue spot showcased his addition of table-side specialities, including Steak Diane and Bananas Foster.
