Crawdaddy’s Bayou Bar and Grill has Closed their Doors for the Last Time

As on January 15th, Crawdaddy’s Bayou Bar and Grill, 1215 West Chester Pike served customers Cajun and Creole fusion foods for the last time.  For the past 18 years, Crawdaddy’s has been bringing a little of bit of Louisiana flavor to West Chester.

According to  their answering machine, their closing is direct result of the tough economy. The machine says, “We are truly sorry to say we are closing our doors, but this difficult economy has put a damper on the amount of business necessary supporting this kind of cuisine.”

Even though there wasn’t a jazz funeral marching down West Chester Pike, Crawdaddy’s facebook page has turned into a tribute page for the beloved restaurant. Many fans expressed their sadness about the closing, how much they loved the food, and a few out of staters said Crawdaddy’s was a must stop when they came to town.

Darci Lombardo who was one of those fans said, “Crawdaddy’s had a casual, laid back atmosphere with top notch food and service. I would go there at least once a week to get my fix of voo-doo shrimp or blackened scallops. Never had better. The employees were friendly and efficient, I am not sure which I will miss more. So sad to see them close. In an area that is filled with cheesesteak and hoagie shops or the everyday chain restaurants, Crawdaddy’s had a niche.”

Within the next few weeks, Crawdaddy’s will be transformed into Toast Tavern. There will be a brand new menu, staff, and the restaurant will be receiving a makeover. Their eclectic menu will include a variety of dishes from around the world served on toasted breads from that region.

Let’s toast to new ventures and cuisine, while remembering warm memories and full bellies.
