“Bring home happy” with PA Preferred® Kreider Farms‘ egg and dairy products. This fourth generation family owned egg and dairy farm in Lancaster County offers farm fresh eggs, milk and premium ice cream to customers throughout Pennsylvania and the tri-state area. This farm operation started nearly 100 years ago and continues to delight locals with some of the most beloved dairy products in the region.

Despite its extensive scale, Kreider Farms retains a close-knit, family feel. Original owners Noah Kreider and Mary Hershey (of the Hershey family) peddled fresh vegetables to neighboring homes before later generations scaled up production with processing plant and retail storefront. These days, Khalee Kreider, Director of Marketing, helps to continue her family farm’s legacy while evolving with the modern world. She told us how the farm connects with the community, its rave-worthy products and Kreider Farms’ vision for the future.

Key to the production at Kreider Farms is the livestock, a large and pampered crew of dairy cows, long-horns, and laying hens. Kreider says, “We farm over 2,000 acres that we utilize to feed our 1,800-head dairy herd. We process all of the milk on site that we produce into fluid milk, cream products and ice cream.” They also produce conventional brown, cage-free, pasture raised organic eggs sold through Kreider Farms and other private labels.

Among its most beloved products are the chocolate milk and ice cream, which some would venture to call the best in the world. The chocolate milk comes in a variety of sizes and contains minimal, simple ingredients such as cane sugar, cocoa and vitamin D3. Other popular milk and beverage products include Kreider Farms’ half & half and cream, strawberry milk, and eggnog. Ice cream-wise, Kreider Farms’ products run the gamut of classics like butter pecan, French vanilla and Rocky Road to more innovative flavors like Cow Palace with peanut butter cups and fudge swirl, and Pumpkin Pie with sugar cookie bits throughout spiced pumpkin ice cream. You can find these divine treats near you using the Kreider Farms product locator.

Kreider Farms prioritizes in-person connections with the local community. It offers public farm tours from May through October, inviting guests to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the working farm. Board the Kreider trolley or bus and check out the welcome center, maternity barn, milking center and 100-foot silo observation tower and enjoy a sample of farm fresh milk.
Kreider says the company values being a part of PA Preferred. “It shows that we value local markets and sustainability,” she says. “Farming is part of our heritage and we are proud to continue doing things the right way. Being associated with the program gives consumers confidence that our products are what we say they are: real, authentic and local!”
As Kreider Farms approaches a century in business, its leaders seek to preserve tradition while growing and changing at the same time. Kreider says, “Family farms are becoming less common as the next generations pursue other interests, but our family is thrilled to keep things going. We just celebrated our 90th year in 2025 and it’s exciting to see how far we’ve come. What’s equally exciting is seeing where we are heading and imagining what might be possible in the next 90 years.”
