PA Preferred® farm Limerick Homegrown Produce & Trading Post, LLC grows mountains of produce in all the colors of the rainbow in Schwenksville, Montgomery County. Owners Michael Panamarenko and Jessica Kanagie work with their three daughters to tend to their land, beckoning forth a bounty of certified organic vegetables, fruits, herbs and value-added products that you can purchase directly from the farm and at regional farmers markets.
As part of the PA Preferred program, Panamarenko says, “We love knowing that we are recognized as a legitimate PA farm, and can assure our customers of our integrity and products. The branding helps as well, as we can put the PA Preferred logo on our products and website to help spread the word and make it more appealing.”
PA Eats: What do you grow and where do you sell your produce?
Michael Panamarenko: We are a USDA Certified Organic vegetable farm. We grow tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, carrots, beets, lettuce, spinach and so much more. We also have our own raw wildflower honey, fresh herbs, flowers and other additional products. We sell at local farmers markets and offer CSA options at our farm. We also have a farm stand that’s open to the public.
What do you love about what you do, and why?
We love that we get to work in an evolving environment of work, community and Mother Nature. Every day is a new day with fresh challenges, opportunities and, most importantly, growth. Our customers are what make us strive to be the best at what we do, and the compliments and gratitude we receive are overwhelming. It shows us just how important we are to the community. We love growing high quality, organic and safe food for the community to eat.
What are your most popular products and what do people love about them?
Some of our most popular items are heirloom tomatoes, gourmet lettuce mix , ginger and carrots, to name a handful. Our heirloom tomatoes are all grown from seed on our farm. We offer numerous varieties including Cherokee purple, pineapple and black zebra starting in late June and going all the way through October. If you’re a lettuce person, our mix is to die for. With 7-10 different varieties, all blended together, there’s a crunch and sweet flavor that you have never experienced before. Ginger is always a hit and not so common amongst farms in this area, so we get a great following for ginger. Carrots – who doesn’t love carrots? They’re always a best seller at the events we attend.
What sets your farm apart?
Our farm is family owned and operated. We built the farm from the ground up with no outside help, a real dedication to the passion of farming. We are USDA Certified Organic, Real Organic Project certified and recognized as PA Preferred!
