PA Eats: What do you appreciate about being PA Preferred?
Rohrbach’s Farm: Being PA Preferred allows us to start valuable conversations with our customers. We are able to share the benefits and brand identity of PA Preferred and what it means to them as a consumer. First, it allows them to connect with their local farmers and growers. Second, it allows them to feel confident in supporting local and PA-grown and PA-produced products. It builds consumer confidence in their purchasing choices as well as the assurance their purchases are positively impacting their community.
What are your most popular products?
Strawberry season really kicks off our year and people enjoy them so much on our farm because they can come and pick them!
Probably even more popular is our pumpkin harvest season. We have a steady flow of school tours all through the fall and guests who come in abundance to enjoy fall activities. We have been intentional about providing pumpkin education to promote not only decorative pumpkins but pumpkins that people can bake and preserve for delicious winter eating. People love the variety of our fall harvest!
What sets the farm apart?
Rohrbach’s Farm stands out in our community because of our intentional agriculture based educational program. We host multiple educational experiences on our farm throughout the summer that are free or very inexpensive. We also have a barbecue restaurant and a local winery, Freas Farm Winery, on site. We provide a relaxed atmosphere inside and outside. Outside, families enjoy hanging out around picnic tables while kids can creatively play in our kids garden. We work very hard at being a very family friendly environment.
Is there anything else that you’d like to add?
We are proud of our educational endeavors. In 2024, we had over 4,000 educational impacts on our farm or in local schools. We began a nonprofit called Seeds of the Future with a mission to provide farm and agricultural-based learning and social experiences that are accessible, affordable and relevant. Each experience should equip and enrich individuals as well as our greater community.
his initiative has allowed us to expand the opportunities we can provide to our community and local schools to support academic endeavors for agriculture based impact in the classroom. This includes healthy food choices, growing food and connecting children to their food sources.
