News from Kreutz Creek

Hurray!!!   I am happy to announce that harvest 2008 is finally over. We handpicked 43 tons of grapes this year. Although harvesting is complete we still have several tanks of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot fermenting.  They will be ready for pressing by early next week.

The quality of the grapes this year is very high!  The weather seemed to be very normal and was actually conducive to growing good grapes.  We started with a wet spring, summer was mostly dry with a few wet periods.  I was concerned at the beginning of hurricane season but with a little cooperation from Mother Nature, it ended on a dry note.  Overall, I’m truly pleased and hope it’s this great next year as well.

The Cabernet Franc and Kordeaux are shaping up to be something incredible.  I was very impressed with the chemistry results and look forward to you previewing them during Barrels on the Brandywine in March ’09.  The Vidal Blanc had very impressive chemistry results as well.  You’ll appreciate it when it’s in the bottle.  The Steuben, Chardonnay and Chambourcin also had an awesome season that will keep you asking for more when it finally makes it to the bottle.

See you in the tasting room!

Cheers,

Jim
