Philadelphia, PA – The Art in the Age store is bringing back old memories and connecting the public to the local farms and businesses we are proud to represent and support. New to the our store is old-time favorite, Mrs. Benner’s Own Made Slapjack Candy and Lancaster Farm Fresh Community Supported Agriculture program.
Mrs. Benner’s Own Made Slapjack Candy, which started out, as a fun treat for Mrs. Benner’s family and friends, swiftly became a crowd favorite and successful family business. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Mrs. Benner’s Slapjack candy and her family could not be happier to keep the business alive in Hatfield, PA. Currently Mrs. Benner’s daughters, grandchildren, and even great grand children make the seasonal candy in the winter months in Mrs. Benner’s daughter’s house, and perform all the deliveries themselves. Mrs. Benner’s daughter Mary Jane, who presently runs the family business says, “You have no idea how many people have told me they used to buy the candy from my mom and they are so glad that someone kept it going.”
Mrs. Benner’s Own Made Slapjack candy is available for purchase in 3 different flavors, Wintergreen, Root Beer, and Anise, in it’s only Philadelphia location, at the Art in the Age store. The candies come in 4 oz. bags for $4.25 and are only available for a limited time.
Additionally, in an effort to provide the opportunity for Philadelphia citizens to eat healthy, local, and fresh, Art in the Age has teamed up with Lancaster Farm Fresh, an organic farmer’s cooperative, to do just this, the Community Supported Agriculture program. Members who join the LFFC CSA share program through Art in the Age will be able to enjoy 25 weeks of freshly harvested, certified organic produce, and the convenience of an Olde City pick-up location, The Art in the Age store. http://www.artintheage.com/events/lffc-aita-community-supported-agriculture-program-sign-up/. In addition, the store is also proud to purvey locally made preserves by Greensgrow Farm in Kensington.
