A Celebration of Beer, and a New Wine Tasting Room in Phoenixville

To coincide with the annual Oktoberfest celebration in Munich, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant will offer an exceptional menu of hearty Bavarian dishes at all eight restaurants until Oct. 3. Iron Hill’s Oktoberfest menu — which will be served in addition to the a la carte menu — will offer dishes with autumnal flavors that are an ideal accompaniment to its hand-crafted Oktoberfest beer.

“Every year, our chefs, brewers and especially our customers, get excited for Oktoberfest, both for our special dishes and the release of our Fest beer,” says director of culinary operations, Kevin Davies.

The robust Oktoberfest menu will include: Bavarian White Bean and Sausage Soup; Mesclun Salad with goat cheese, red beets, walnuts and sherry vinaigrette; Smoked Salmon with boursin cheese, cucumber-red onion salad, grilled flatbread and sweet mustard-dill sauce; Grilled Sausages, including bratwurst, knockwurst and garlic sausage with braised lentils and stone ground mustard; Jaeger Schnitzel, pan-fried, breaded veal cutlet with buttered egg noodles, haricots verts and hunter sauce; Pan-Seared Salmon with sauerkraut-potato croquettes, buttery green beans and sweet mustard-dill sauce; Linzer Torte; and Apricot Frangipane with vanilla ice cream and cherry-kirsch sauce. Prices range from $4.25 to $20.50.

In addition to their food offerings, the restaurant will serve their special Oktoberfest beer, a full-bodied amber lager with a malty, bready aroma and a firm malt flavor, balanced with mild bitterness and a clean dry finish. It is a traditional German festival beer.

On Oct. 1 (a First Friday), Downtown Phoenixville plans to host a day-long Oktoberfest celebration. Iron Hill will be serving up armfuls of delicious German beers, German specialty foods, some of Brick Oven’s fantastic bread, and authentic German polka music! Mark your calendar, wear your lederhosen … and join in the fun.

According to Barry Cassidy of Main Street CDC, other local restaurants also plan to join in the fun. Bistro on Bridge, PJ Ryan’s and Molly Maguire’s will all be on the street as the 100 and 200 blocks of Bridge are closed for this day of festivities. German music, Oktoberfest beer and delicious German food will be served to those in attendance for this

First Friday celebration. Tents will be set up downtown, and this will be a rain-or-shine event.
