Kimberton Fair rolls into town tomorrow celebrating yet another year of the area’s finest carnival, booming with rides, agricultural and art vendors, and an extreme offering of the best grease-laden festival foods.
Even better, Kimberton Volunteer Fire Company, the organizers and benefactors of the yearly event, host a lineup of notorious events, including log sawing, tractor pulling, baby contests and many baking contests.
Think your competitive edge is a step above the rest? Is it time to brush off grandma’s legendary angel food or apple pie recipes and trot your family’s finest?
Entry day for all baked goods, which swim through quick breads, cookies, candy, brownies, Hershey’s chocolate cake, and much more, is Monday, July 26 from 7 to 9 a.m. Best in Show will be announced later in the week, and winners of the various baking categories (first through fourth place) will be awarded their cash prizes. The release date for all award-winners is slated for Sun., Aug. 1 at noon to 2 p.m.
And, if the best you can do in the kitchen is speedily devour someone else’s creations, you are in luck. A pie eating contest will be take place Wed., July 28, with the winning title being awarded to the first one to completely eat the entire pie, sans utensils and hands.
