Although their collaborative attempt to beat a Guinness World Record fell short, PA Wineries made history as 7675 wine lovers gathered at 60 wineries to toast thriving state wine industry.
The Great Pennsylvania Wine Toast, the one-day celebration held last Saturday, August 14 by the state’s wine industry, was organized in an attempt set a world record for the largest wine tasting ever conducted. Even though the attempt fell short of the official record of 17,540 (set at more than 400 United Kingdom pubs in 2008), the Pennsylvania Winery Association’s (PWA) felt the collaborative event across the state was an overwhelming accomplishment which helped raise awareness for the 130-plus wineries throughout the state..
A portion of the proceeds from the events across the participating wineries will be donated to The Fund to Benefit Children & Youth. The charity’s mission is to provide abused, neglected and at-risk children with the items and services they cannot receive from traditional sources.
