Here is a message from an awesome local chef that is doing something REALLY cool for our area. Check it out and VOTE!
“I am thrilled to report that I have been selected as one of 24 chefs nationwide to participate in the Sears Chefs Challenge. This three-round culinary competition began on May 5 with in-store demonstrations at Sears stores around the country and will culminate with a grand finale in Chicago in the fall.
But, to get to Chicago, I need your help! The first round of the competition is being determined by online voting. Please log on to www.searschefchallenge.com and vote for me and my charity. You will find me under the Washington DC chefs. Voting begins tomorrow, June 26th and continues until July 10th. Anyone, anywhere, can vote once a day for the next two weeks. There are great prize opportunity for voters as well!
The grand prize for the Sears Chef Challenge is a complete kitchen renovation (for me) and a $20,000 donation for my chosen charity – Camphill Village Kimberton Hills. The mission at Camphill Village Kimberton Hills, located in Kimberton, Pa., is to encourage individuals, especially those with special needs, to discover and fulfill their greatest developmental and creative potential within a farming and handcrafting community. In valuing persons of all abilities, Kimberton Hills seeks to foster a living and working environment that is sustainable, productive and beautiful. Residents and volunteers uniquely contribute to the community through meaningful vocations such as gardening, dairy farming, and working in the café, bakery and handicraft workshops. As the community cares for one another, it also nurtures and improves the land by practicing biodynamic agriculture and raising environmental awareness.
Camphill is such a great organization! I support them every week by purchasing their products at my local farmers market and whole grocer. Now, you can help me help them more by voting for us in the challenge!”
Thank you all in advance for your support of me and Camphill!
Eat Well,
Chef Steph
