What is Fresh Beets?

Fresh Beets is a celebration of the best of Pennysylvania… fresh food, creative minds, friendly people and, of course, amazing music! This family friendly event will feature fun for all ages. Admission is free but donations to PASA, the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture are greatly appreciated. Proceeds from many of our food, farmers, and gifts will also be donated to PASA.

Who is PASA?

PASA is the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture. Founded in 1992, PASA’s consistent and driving vision has been to transform agriculture and food systems in Pennsylvania and beyond in a way that makes our farmers more viable, improves the land and restores the health and wellbeing of all our citizens. PASA is nonprofit in structure, but entrepreneurial in spirit, as they use resources carefully to work collaboratively with others in achieving measurable results where possible, without compromising values. For PASA, success is defined as the dual process of achieving their mission now while also building capacity to impact the future for many generations to come. The MC

Meet Tim Mountz – Rock Star Farmer and Part-Time Writer

Tim comes from a long line of plantsmen and Pennsylvania German farmers who have been working the land here since 1683, just for nice.

Along with his wife, Amy, Tim co-owns Happy Cats Organics where they grow heirloom seeds, plants and produce and specialize in about 130 varieties of tomatoes. They are also working on a line of delicious sauces and rubs. Tim is Happy Cats’ ethonobotanist, forager, seed saver and office beer taster (Twin Lakes IPA is what he currently digs).

When he is not messing with seeds he’s hiking or reading or on one of his many skateboards.

The Venue

Fresh Beets is an outdoor, rain or shine event. Seating is avaible to watch the show. You are welcome to bring blankets and folding chairs as well. There will be a covered cafe for you and your family to enjoy the scrumptious food being cooked on-site. Portable restrooms and hand wash stations are located on the festival grounds. Restrooms equipped with baby changing stations are available inside Whole Foods Market. We ask that you dispose of your trash in the appropriate recepticles: Recycling (#1-7 plastics, glass, aluminum), Compost (food scraps, paper goods), and Landfill.

Parking

There will be plenty of on-site event parking. Please follow signs and traffic officers on The Fairway directing vehicles to the far end of the Baederwood Shopping Center lot (nearest Chicos). We ask that you do not park in the lot directly in front of the store if you are just visiting the festival. Please also be mindful of neighbors and refrain from parking in the lots of the adjacent aparment/housing complexes.
