If you are looking for authentic Italian food, gourmet Italian food, fresh Italian food at reasonable prices then look no further than “A” Taste of Italy 2 in Douglassville.  Since 2007, Joe Bompartito has been bringing the finest Italian entrees to lower Berks County.  His family owns “A” Taste of Italy in Springhouse and Joe, seeing the need for some true Italian delicacies in our area, graced us with his café just off of 422 West in the Benjamin Franklin Shopping Plaza.

It’s not just another hoagie shop.  Hailing from New York, Joe knows how Italian food should taste and takes “fast-food” to a whole new level with the temptations on his menu.  Your taste buds will be pleasantly surprised by the creative selection.  All of the sandwiches, salads, soups and entrees he offers are made fresh, from scratch on the premises.  For example, if you order one of my favorites, the chicken parmigiana sub, you will receive a breaded chicken breast too large to be contained by the crispy NY sesame seed roll.  The chicken is smothered with real Italian sharp provolone and Joe’s homemade marinara.  My mouth is watering just typing this.  In this restaurant, you will never find some mechanically-pressed, freezer-burned circle of mystery chicken with a glop of canned tomato sauce painted on a stale hoagie roll.  This is the good stuff at a great price!  For those who aren’t sandwich-lovers, Joe offers a daily selection of freshly-prepared entrees such as breaded chicken cutlets, a vegetable lasagna that’s two-stories high, melt-in-your-mouth eggplant rollatini and handmade meatballs that would give grandma a run for her money.  Along with savory soups-of-the-day, crisp and unique salads and hearty pasta salads, there is something for everyone.  All of this is available for dine-in or take-out…and did I mention the great prices?  On your way out, don’t forget to grab a block of imported Italian Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino Romano, a bottle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil or some of Joe’s homemade sausages.

When you’re running late and you begin to feel the mounting stress of hungry mouths to feed at home, stop in to “A” Taste of Italy 2 and grab a family dinner-to-go, complete with entrée, salad and bread.  The ample servings will have you leaving the table and heading upstairs to don your favorite pair of elastic-waist pants and there will still be some left over for lunch the next day.  Perhaps you’re sweating over that big event or office meeting you’re planning.  Let Joe take the pressure off.  His extensive catering menu and years of experience cooking for and serving gatherings large and small will not disappoint.  He’s currently running a special for Thanksgiving dinner!  You can pre-order for pick-up the day of your party or Joe can come to your event.  Now that’s service with a New York Italian smile.

The next time you have a hankering for some good ol’ Italian cuisine done right, stop in to “A” Taste of Italy 2 and introduce yourself.  Joe likes to know his customers and you’ll become one of the family.  Mangia!
