9th Annual Harvest Festival Coming to the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail, Contest Alert

Experience the sights and smells of harvest and have a good time as the wineries of the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail celebrate the 2011 vintage!

You’ll find grapes galore as the vineyards commence harvest activities. Enjoy pastoral settings for picnicking, live music to “sit n’ sip” by, hayrides through the vineyards, BBQs, wine tastings, tours, and the opportunity to learn about the region where Pennsylvania’s most stellar wines are being grown.

Passports entitle participants to visit and taste at the vineyards and wineries during the Harvest Festival weekends through December 30, 2011! TO PURCHASE: Passports to the 9th Annual Harvest Festival are available at any member winery for $30. Passports may also be ordered online at the wine trail website, by clicking here.

Schedule of Events:

Two weekends: September 24 & 25 and October 1 & 2, 12 to 5 p.m. each day
All members of the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail will be open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. during the Harvest Festival weekend, and will host activities as listed below.  Come relax, put up your feet and pick your favorite wines!

Paradocx Vineyard

Be a part of the harvest first-hand at Paradocx and enjoy time at this weekend festival. Your passport entitles you to visit all seven member wineries in Southern Chester County. In addition, come out and enjoy Paradocx Vineyard fun fall festivities.

Two of the largest farms in the area, Paradocx Vineyard and Schmidts’ Tree Farm will host an array of activities on Paradocx Vineyard’s 100-acre farm, 7-acre corn maze, new rope maze, corn cannon, pedal car track, children’s wagon train, pumpkin sling shot, pumpkin bowling, and “pick-your-own pumpkin patch.” Pumpkins are sold by weight. $12 admission fee. FREE for children 3 and under. Then, enjoy grilled burgers and hot dogs available with a side for $8.00 or you can bring your picnic dinner to pair with Paradocx wines which will be available for purchase by the glass ($7.00), bottle and can. By law, no outside alcoholic beverages or dogs are permitted.

Attend their evening concerts on September 24 and October 1 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Separate admission fee applies for evening concert.

Two fun filled weekends during the harvest season. Penns Woods Winery is celebrating the 2011 harvest with live music, wine tastings, and infused olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar tastings by L’Acetaia. There will be local art, cheese, candles, spices and dips, and chocolate for sale.  Bring a picnic or indulge in their home-made fall-themed food catered by The Inn at Historic Yellow Spring, and enjoy games like washers, frisbee and more!

Throughout harvest festival, they will be raffling an AUTHENTIC FRENCH OAK  WINE BARREL used to age some of Penns Woods Finest! Stop by any day of Harvest Festival to purchase raffle tickets to win!

  • September 24th: Free lawn concert from 2-7pm

Live Concert by the acoustic guitarist Chris Adams. Classically trained, this powerful performer fuses the precise agility of his traditional background and the soulfulness of the blues genre. All of his equipment will be powered by a large solar panel!

  • October 1st: Free lawn concert from 3-7pm

Live Concert by Arianne Rox. Inspired at an early age to seek out her own path, Arianne Rox has come full circle to embrace a rapidly blossoming career in the makings of her album, Daydream. Arianne’s music speaks to all audiences and as naturally as the music seems to spring forth from of her, she, just as innately, radiates the joy of doing what she loves.

About the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail
