It comes with great news to hear about Baker Industries (184 Pennsylvania Avenue, Malvern) recent participation in the national “Red Ribbon Week,” America’s oldest and largest drug prevention program that reaches millions of Americans annually during the last week of October.
Members of Baker Industries–a local and unique 501 (c) (3) nonprofit work rehabilitation program which employs and finds outside employment for the disabled, recovering substance abusers, parolees, and the homeless–were donned in reds and wore red ribbons on Tues., Oct. 25 to participate in the anti-drug event.
By participating and wearing red to support community anti-drug events, members of the local organization pledged to live a drug-free life and pay tribute to DEA Special Agent Enriqué “Kiki” Camarena. Camarena, an 11-year veteran of the DEA that was assigned to the Guadalajara, Mexico office where he was on the trail of the country’s biggest marijuana and cocaine traffickers. In 1985, he was extremely close to unlocking a multi-billion dollar drug pipeline.
