It is in sad news that another local business, Brick Oven Bread & Cheese Shoppe, has decided to close its doors. Opening just six months earlier, on Friday, July 9 next door to Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant, the brick oven bakery has briefly fulfilled our need for fresh out-of-the-oven artisan baked goods and gourmet-styled pizzas.
Although we are crushed that the local Bridge Street business is closing, we are honored to have nibbled on many of their loaves, including those produced at Camphill Village of Kimberton Hills by Sweet Water Baking Co. (You can still regularly stock up on those organic and local pleasures by visiting Camp Hills’ Cafe, info here: http://www.camphillkimberton.org/bakery.php)
While much of the Brick Oven’s stock is already packed away, they will continue to sell the rest of the store’s cheese case, discounted at 50 to 75-percent off normal cost (tons of local varieties may remain). The addicting artisan pizzas that our friends at OneNineFourSixZero praised last month will also remain available on Friday nights (how long this will continue is yet to be determined). Available varieties include the classic Margherita, the white pizza with roasted garlic and white truffle oil, and the round topped with West Chester’s Shellbark Hollow chevre, peppers and artichokes.
Find Brick Oven Bread & Cheese Shoppe at 138 Bridge Street or online at brickovenbreadshoppe.com.
