Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant to Donate Proceeds of Rising Sun IPA

On Friday, April 15, the East Coast’s fastest growing collection of brewpubs, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, will donate all proceeds from the sale of their popular Rising Sun IPA to the victims of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan and the Pacific.  The beer, brewed with a Japanese strain of hops known as Sorachi Ace, will be available on draught at all eight Iron Hill locations throughout the region beginning at 5 p.m., and 100% of sales will go directly to support American Red Cross disaster relief efforts.

“Like so many people, we watched in horror as the earthquake and resulting tsunami devastated the nation of Japan, and we knew right away we wanted to do something to help,” says founding partner Kevin Finn.  “This fundraiser is especially dear to us because our popular Rising Sun IPA is brewed with Japanese hops – and we think it’s fitting that we give back anything we can as the resilient Japanese people work to overcome this crisis.”

Rising Sun IPA is an American-style India Pale Ale, brewed with 100% Japanese Sorachi Ace hops, which give the beer its signature spicy citrus character.  The beer will cost $5.75 a pint and it will be available from 5 p.m. until the kegs are kicked on Friday, April 15 at every Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant.

Founded by home brewers Finn and Mark Edelson and restaurateur Kevin Davies in Newark, DE in 1996, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant is the region’s fastest-growing restaurant group, blossoming from one restaurant and brewery to eight locations across the mid-Atlantic.  Each is dedicated to producing and serving top-quality hand-crafted beers and cuisine in a warm and hospitable setting, and all are open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.  Their acclaimed beers have accumulated a wealth of awards from the nation’s top beer festivals, and their restaurants have earned more than 100 “Best of” nods from local and national publications.
