The Lions Share Diner is well-hidden in the historic building set back off Route 100 in Lionville, but once you step inside this is a true diner experience. There’s nothing fancy about the diner, just simple booths and tables, friendly service and affordable food.
The diner experience is often made or broken by the attentiveness of the waitress. I stopped in to try the Lions Share Diner for lunch and was treated to the most delightful experience by a waitress named Deborah. When I explained I’d not eaten here, and asked her what she recommended, she took time to look through the menu with me. She pointed out several sandwiches that she thought were the most popular. I overheard her chatting with the other diners as well, and she was friendly and relaxed with everyone.
Deborah pointed out the the lunch special, which includes soup, a sandwich and fries for $5.95. The lunch special is available Monday through Friday from 11am to 3pm, and I decided to give it a go.
The soup was a choice of Vegetable or New England Clam Chowder. I chose the clam chowder, which proved to be creamy goodness in a cup. I was surprised at how thick and creamy it was.
There were a few sandwich choices for the lunch special, and I decided to try the tuna fish sandwich on toasted wheat bread with fries. The tuna fish was fresh and the fries were crisp.
The Lions Share Diner also offers a breakfast special on Mondays through Fridays, from 6 am to 11 am. Two eggs, home fries, toast and jelly for $2.49. Add in bacon, sausage, ham or scrapple and the breakfast is $3.95.
Deborah checked back, refilled my iced tea and dropped off the check with a smile, reminding me to “have a good weekend.” The nice thing about it was, she really meant it. In a world where cashiers don’t even thank you anymore, Deborah was polite and cordial.
The Lions Share Diner is open 24 hours a day. They are open even on Thanksgiving and Christmas. They also bake their goods on premises. The Lions Share Diner is located at 812 North Pottstown Pike, Exton, PA. The eatery is reachable by phone at 610-363-6664.
