Más Mexicali Cantina to Premiere New Menu Items in November

If September’s Restaurant Festival was any indication of how well Mas Mexicali Cantina’s new menu will go over with the public, they are going to be bustling once the new menu arrives.

Over 500 “Mini Chimis” flew out of Mas’ booth at the Restaurant Festival. These delightful roll-ups nabbed first place in the Town Dish Choice Awards for best appetizer. The mini chimis are flaky tortillas enveloping slow-roasted chicken and beef with braised marinated peppers and onions. The mini chimis are accompanied by a sweetened sour cream and their signature sweet and spicy drizzle.

Over the course of November, Mas is revealing a new menu that will delight everyone’s inner food adventurer. Classic staples like fajitas and burritos will remain on the menu and new original gourmet creations will be added. Some of their new entrees include two new enchiladas including an oceanside enchilada, paella, organic chicken mole, spicy chipotle hummus, Mexican corn breads, fried ice cream. The updated menu will also feature new salads, burgers, salads, entrees and desserts.

“For previous guests at Mas they will still have the opportunity to enjoy their usual favorites,” said Executive Chef Patrick Boyle. “Now, they will also have the opportunity to try some newer dishes that speak to a larger audience of  ‘Foodies.’”

Chef Patrick is most proud of his burger collection which includes one burger which he described as a “burger unlike anything you’ve ever seen.” This juicy burger has a center of sliced avocado and goat cheese in a spicy BBQ sauce and is wrapped in delicate layers of puff pastry. It is accompanied by a tower of fried pickles drizzled in a chipotle sauce.

Over the past year, Patrick Boyle has been working to hard to make changes at Mas. Most recently, he brought in a fresh batch of new faces in addition to new fare. When it came to creating Mas’ new menu, Chef Patrick got to flex his culinary creative muscles and introduced culinary gems that go beyond typical Tex Mex.

Chef Patrick started consulting for Mas in February and joined the team over the summer. During the summer, he conducted a lot of reading and eating research, trying to capture and perfect the intense flavor profiles of authentic Mexican cuisine. Chef Patrick is a graduate of the Restaurant School of Philadelphia at Chesnut Hill and was trained in classical French cooking. For the past 15 years, Patrick has served as an Executive Chef at country clubs, restaurants and a catering business.
