Dust off your best ’80s clothes and time warp to a radical era of righteous fashion and the glory days of skateboarding for “SK80’s Night” at The Note on Feb. 12 at 8 p.m.
The ’80s-themed fundraiser for the Downingtown Skatepark Organization will support the non-profit’s advocacy for action sports in Chester County, and the future construction of a concrete skatepark for the Downingtown area. Currently, there are no parks within a 90-minute drive.
The Downingtown Skatepark Organization, with a mission to “promote a healthy lifestyle, foster social interaction and promote tourism in the Downingtown area, as well as ensure non-restricted use of this skatepark,” invites all locals to attend their evening of live entertainment wearing gnarly gear like leg warmers, parachute pants and Members Only jackets. While ’80s dress is not mandatory, a contest will be held to award the best outfit of the night.
The evening’s main event is the live music, including West Chester’s Backwoods Payback; Lancaster County’s finest metal, Electric Horsemen; and the area’s hip-hop and electronic mixer, Love City DJs.
Doors open at 8 p.m., with tickets at $10 each. Tickets may be purchase in advance online via The Note’s website (thenotewc.com) or at the door. The totally amped fundraiser will also feature a raffle including gift certificates, skateboards and accessories, T-shirts, hats, tattoo gift certificates, artwork, and some one-of-a-kind items!
The Note is at 142 E. Market St. in West Chester. For more information on how to support the Downingtown Skatepark Organization, visit www.downingtownskatepark.com.
