Victory Brewing Company Unleashes Their Solar Efforts

Ever since day one in 1996, founders Bill Covaleski and Ron Barchet of Victory Brewing Company have considered only conducting an operation that has the lowest environmental impacts in its manufacturing. Following similar ethics and suit, the local brewery in 2009 and 2010 installed a total of 12 thermally-protected, energy-efficient fermenters whose cooling and temperature monitoring will now be powered with photovoltaic electricity.

With help from SunPower Builders of Collegeville, PA, Victory had 345 photovoltaic panels installed, which will generate approximately 82,000kWh of clean, green electricity each year for their operation. Better yet, the system monitor was installed in their brewpub, displaying live data regarding the system’s energy generation for patrons to witness.

Yesterday, on Thursday, January 6, at 4 pm, an official ribbon cutting ceremony initiated the strides toward greener beer for Victory Brewing Company, with Bill, Ron, Jon Costanza of Sunpower, and many local representatives in attendance to commemorate their ongoing solar efforts.

Of course, Victory was pouring beer samples for its guests, including Helios, their farmhouse ale, as well as offering a proper finger food buffet–all of which was also made with the sunshining brew. As guests devoured a mouth-watering lineup of Helios Poached Chicken Cucumber Canapes, Helios Broiled Kielbasa Kreis, Helios Beer Battered Cremini Mushrooms and Helios Marinated Zucchini Fries, we all couldn’t have been any more pleased to witness this initiation, showing appreciation toward our local brewery who continues to make forward-thinking strides that betters both their beer and the borough.
