The French do a lot of things right, food included, which lends others the inspiration to recreate as best as possible. This Friday, Mt. Airy will follow the French’s lead in celebrating the end of summer and beginning of fall with “Finally Friday” on August 31st. The event will have a “La Rentrée” theme, which is the French promotion of summer’s ending and a return to normal life.
Those who attend the festive evening will be able to enjoy gallery shows at studios, live entertainment on the sidewalk and French-inspired specials at restaurants and shops. Organizations like Earth Bread & Brewery will offer a special French-inspired flatbread, Food For All Market plans to have a gluten-free French baguette for your enjoyment and Avenida will serve $20 pitchers of sangria and margaritas. Plus the new bakery/cafe, Little Jimmie’s, will host a “pop-up” bakery outside of Scoops Ice Cream.
Many vendors will stay open late along Germantown Ave. and celebrate into the night. For a full list of specials and featured events, visit the Mt. Airy website.
