We often visit our favorite historical restaurants and bars, knowing there must be a story behind their walls but never fully investigating. That will not be the case on Monday, September 10, at 6p.m., thanks to a captivating retelling of war events scheduled for delivery by the President of the Chester County Historical Society, Ph. D. Rob Lukens and a dinner that follows.
Lukens will be joined by Linda Kaat, Vice President of Friends of Martin’s Tavern, for a retelling of the involvement of the Marshalton Village in the Revolutionary War Battle of the Brandywine 235 years ago. Visitors can relive the eve of the battle, which took place on September 11, 1777. Just down the street from the Marshalton Inn is Centre House (Martin’s Tavern) which figured prominently in the outcome of the Battle of the Brandywine. After the talk, guests can walk down to Martin’s Tavern for a guided tour and return to the Four Dogs Tavern adjacent to the Marshalton Inn for dinner.
This brief 25-30 minute presentation will be followed by discussion, Q & A, and good conversation. And of course, there will be great beer and good food. History on Tap brings history to you in the casual atmosphere of your favorite local bar or restaurant. The program is free for the community to enjoy!
