With so many technological advancements these days, e-readers and laptops have started to replace the classic hard or soft cover book. However, there are rich characteristics of a book that no electronic item could ever trump, which is why they still deserve to be celebrated in a festive manner!
The Chestnut Hill Book Festival is an arts council that supports the (mostly) written word in the form of poetry, prose, etc. of local Philadelphia area authors. They help audiences find stimulating writers, while at the same time helping writers find an audience. The event was founded in 2007 by a group of Chestnut Hill readers and the rest was history.
This year the Fourth Annual Book Festival & Speakers Series falls on Sunday, September 30th boasting a full day of entertainment. Things will kick off in the Bombay Room at Chestnut Hill Hotel at 11:30 a.m. and wrap up after 2 p.m. when Songwriter Buckley Park performs. All workshops are $10 and open to the public.
Be sure to spy the full schedule below, plus stay tuned to their Facebook page for up to date information about the festival.
