Cooking Spotlight Announces Upcoming Courses, Featuring Autumn Meals, Irish Fare, Salty Snacks & More

As outside temperatures are drop, many of us ponder ideas for exciting indoor activities. One excellent idea is to head over to Cooking Spotlight in the Village at Eland for informative and fun classes that will take your kitchen skills to the next level. There are many great courses scheduled for the near future. Spy the full list below and reserve your spot before they’re all booked up!

Monday, October 22: Meatless Autumn Meal – 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Demonstration Class – $45.00

Celebrate fall with this meatless menu from Private Chef and Caterer, Jenny Young.  Jenny will show you how to create this hearty meal sure to satisfy any appetite.

Menu:  Tomatoes stuffed with white bean & garlic puree, Wild Mushroom Risotto, and a Salad of beets and greens with goat cheese.

Wednesday, October 24: Traditional Irish Pub Fare – 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.   

Demonstration Class – $55.00 

An Irish pub –it’s the food.  It’s the people.  It’s a chance to meet and greet.  Join us for a pub experience with Executive Chef Peter McCann of Molly Maguire’s Irish Restaurant & Pub in Phoenixville.  Chef McCann will give us a taste of Ireland with traditional pub food such as Fish & Chips, Colcannon and other Irish dishes.

Saturday, October 27: Salty Snacks – 12:30 to 3:00 p.m.

Demonstration class – $55.00

Tired of the same old chips?  Learn how to make your own salty, crunchy treats with Cynthia Nims, author of the cookbook “Salty Snacks”.  She’ll give us easy techniques and new flavors to make crispy and savory treats.  Mario Batali says her cookbook is “….the definitive handbook to snackage perfectly tailored to the salty dog I am.”  If you’re a “salty dog” too, you don’t want to miss this class. 

Tuesday, October 30: How to Use Your Kitchen – 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Hands on Class – $50.00

Boil, Bake, Saute, Roast…this is a Cooking 101 class for everyone who wants to cook, but needs some advice on the basics.  You will learn tips, tricks and techniques to make cooking both fun and rewarding.

Menu:  Roasted Red Pepper & Tomato Soup, Herb Crusted Salmon or Chicken Cutlet, Roasted Fall Vegetables and Simmered French Lentils, Baked Apple Crumble and Broiled Bananas with Whipped Cream.
