The holidays are special at the Bordley House Grille, from the artisan food to tantalizing seasonal cocktails, right down to the festively decorated 18th century farmhouse once owned by Judge John Beale Bordley.
The Women’s Referral Network of Chester County (WRN) was treated to the Bordley House Grille’s hospitality during a recent Business Card Exchange, one example of how the restaurant can accommodate events of all sizes for organizations, businesses and families.
“We still have a few holiday dates available, and some special deals for certain days of the week,” noted Food and Beverage Director Katrina Schmidt. “We can hold up to 50. In fact, from Monday to Thursday you can rent the entire restaurant for your gathering.”
The WRN event featured a sampling of regular menu items and catering menu items. I was delighted to enjoy the Two Time Award-Winning Mac-N-Cheese crafted with local Kennett Square mushrooms, goat cheese from Yellow Springs Farm in Chester Springs and rosemary from the herb garden. The other offering from the appetizer menu was the best of the Wurst Plate: brats and knockwurst, German taters, beer-braised sauerkraut and spicy mustard. My carnivore compatriots gave it a thumbs-up, commenting it was a great mix of tangy flavors paired with the savory sausages.
Holding its own beside those hearty apps was a sampler of snackage: pigs in a blanket, mini-quiches and spanikopita bites, plus a mixed cheese platter with toasted bread rounds. Each was a perfectly portioned nibble that made noshing while circulating among guests a cinch.
“Our menus offer options for every occasion, but we really like to work with customers to personalize their events,” Katrina added. “There’s something for every budget.”
I’d advise you allocate some of that budget for signature cocktails. The winter cocktail selections are a tantalizing group of libations. I sampled the Chocolate-Peppermint Martini that sported an epic amount of fresh whipped cream atop Absolute Vanilla, Godiva Chocolate and peppermint schnapps. The mint was bold at first sip then nicely mellowed by the chocolate. A wintry treat for the senses.
I also made room for the Pumpkin Pie Martini (who wouldn’t?) made authentic by using house-made spiced pumpkin syrup with vanilla vodka, amaretto and cream. My family is known for its holiday pumpkin pie, so I have a discerning palate when it comes to those flavors. This drink did not disappoint.
As a WRN board member, I was pleased and impressed with our event. Learn how Katrina and the friendly folks at the Bordley House Grille can make your next event extra special by calling her at 610-738-4410 ext. 13.
