October is national domestic abuse awareness month. While we recognize this time of year as a moment to fight for victims and to push awareness, some organizations are busy doing this tough work year round. One organization doing just that is the non-profit Domestic Violence Center of Chester County.
In honor of their hard work and to assist them in their continued effort, Mas Mexicali Cantina is sponsoring a Freedom Fashion Show Fundraiser on Sunday, October 7th. The fashion show will represent local donated fashions from West Chester area fashion boutiques and all proceeds from the event will go to DVCC.
National breast cancer awareness month also falls in October and is a very important issue to support, but it tends to cast a shadow over DVCCC’s efforts at this time of year. As a result, they struggle to gain government and local funding. That’s all going to change in 2012 thanks to Mas, fashion, and YOU!
The afternoon will begin at 12:00 noon with lunch and entertainment, followed by a silent auction, vendor displays, and the fashion show. Many boutiques and salons in the borough of West Chester have teamed up to provide the auction and runway items. Gently worn women’s clothing may also be donated by the general public.
