GQ Names Mica in 10 Best Restaurants

As a restaurant, being recognized on a broader scale, beyond your usual customer base, is always an honor. The newspaper can do a write-up claiming you’re the best in town or a local magazine may brag about your desserts. While those recognitions always deserve an applause, when GQ announces you as one of The Ten Best New Restaurants in America, there better be a standing ovation in order.

In this case, we rise to our feet for Chestnut Hill’s, Mica (8609 Germantown Avenue)! The quaint building is a no nonsense restaurant with a stronger focus on the food, rather than interior design. They made GQ‘s list as the honorable number 8 spot. However, this isn’t the first time Mica received attention from the press. The restaurant was also recognized  by Food & Wine Magazine for their artichoke agnolotti as one of the 10 Best Dishes of 2011.

To keep things simple yet interesting, they offer mandatory prix fixe menus on the weekends and tasting menus throughout the week. The executive (and pastry) chef, Chip Roman, has a passion for every dish he prepares and it shows up, not only in the presentation, but even more so in the taste. If you haven’t had a chance to dine in at the acclaimed restaurant in Chestnut Hill, we recommend you move it to the top of your to do list.

Mica is open Tuesday – Thursday, 5:30-10 pm; Friday,  5:30 – 11 pm; Saturday, 5 – 11 pm; Sunday Brunch, 10:30 am – 2 pm; and Sunday Dinner, 5 – 9 pm.
