Have you heard of Homemade? If so, you won’t be hearing about it much longer. Not because they’re closing their doors. The Narbeth sandwich shop has decided to try on a brand new name. Owner, Beth BurensteinAmadio, announced the official change and from here on out, Homemade will be known as “Simply Homemade.”
The restaurant opened in June of 2010 as Homemade Sandwich Shop. The petite space at 106 North Essex Avenue in Narberth, churned out made to order chicken cutlet, brisket, meatballs, roast pork and other specialty sandwiches for lunch. This change in name doesn’t mean a big change in the menu so don’t worry regulars, you will still see the restaurant’s signature homestyle sandwiches. Only now the newly named Simply Homemade will put a greater focus on dinners and catering. A new sign and logo now reads “Homemade-Dinners, Sandwiches, Catering.”
Beth and husband Lou Amadio run the kitchen, along with Beth’s son David Maguire. The dinner scene will feature white tablecloths, attentive wait service and, drum roll please, it’s a BYOB! Dinner items, prepared with the freshest ingredients, passion and love, will include classic Milan salad, eggplant parmesan, mussels (red and white), ziti and asparagus, chicken and veal marsala, spaghetti and clams, and so much more! Their special Summer dinner menu offers spaghetti and crab gravy and hard shell crabs (hot and spicy or garlic). Most lunch menu items will be available at dinnertime and both meals are served seven days a week. You can even take advantage of the pleasant weather and dine al fresco.
The prices are fantastic, especially considering the quality of food. The ambience spawns from their friend and family gatherings, which are always filled with conversation, laughter and great food. You should feel simply at home when visiting, and especially when using the catering services. That’s just they way Beth and her family intended it!
