On December 5th, West Chester Story Slam visits Newtown Square’s acclaimed coffee house Burlap and Bean!

Several of the winning storytellers from the 2012 West Chester Story Slam season will be appearing for one night, telling their stories live on-stage. Audience members will also have the opportunity to jump up and tell their story, so the question is: What’s your story? Reserve your tickets here and join in on the action at 8 p.m.

To open up the night, five of the winning West Chester Story Slam storytellers will tell their favorite stories from this past season. After intermission, the story slam will be opened up to the audience to tell their own stories on the theme of Road Trip!

Do you want to step up to the mic? Here’s what you need to know:

The best stories have a beginning, middle and an ending. They can be funny, sad, reflective or a combination of all. The best story slam advice is this: Know the first sentence of your story and know the last sentence of your story. If you know where you are starting and have your destination in sight, you’ll do just fine!

Official Rules for the West Chester Story Slam are as follows:

  • Storytellers register upon arrival. Names are drawn out of a hat to decide order of presentation.
  • Stories should fit into the theme of the night!
  • Stories should be true as you remember it!
  • Stories should be under five minutes in length!
  • No Notes, No Props, No Music!
