Save the date: The 2013 Kennett Square Mushroom Festival is set for September 7 and 8!
The focus is on fun and fungi at the 28th annual event, which will run Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy your time in the Mushroom Capital of the World with tasty mushroom foods and mushroom-inspired art, plus mushroom farm tours, exhibits and cooking demonstrations. There is also a Mushroom Walk/Run, an Antique and Classic Car Show, entertainment for children, the Soup and Wine Fest, the Painted Mushroom Silent Auction and the Old Fashioned Carnival. Something new this year, the Amateur Mushroom Cook-off on Saturday will be featuring appetizers instead of soup.
Two great events planned for 2013 festival are the Second Annual National Fried Mushroom Eating Championship on Saturday and your chance to meet Carla Hall, co-host of The Chew and former Top Chef contestant, in the Culinary Tent on Sunday.
