It’s going to be a food truck frenzy on April 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Manayunk StrEAT Food Festival! Main Street in Manayunk will be lined with Philadelphia’s best food trucks for the second time in a year.
Thirty food trucks will take up ¾ miles along Main Street (running from Green Lane to Shurs Lane). The street will be open to traffic with trucks facing the sidewalk for pedestrian access. Stroll the street, taste the offerings from your favorite trucks and sit and enjoy the food at picnic-style seating areas around the district.
The number of food trucks attending this year’s event has doubled since the first StrEAT Food Festival on September 29, 2012. “It’s absolutely phenomenal,” says Jane Lipton, Executive Director of the Manayunk Development Corporation. “Manayunk is a foodie’s dream come true, and this event really celebrates that as a kick-off to our Manayunk Restaurant Week.”
Twenty Manayunk restaurants will be offering a strawberry-themed specialty in-store during the event. “The theme for the event is strawberry to capture the coming of spring,” adds Lipton. “Challenging our restaurants and vendors to include strawberries into their menus is something that makes our event exciting and different from other food festivals people may have been to.”
Gourmet Food Courts and a Farmer’s Market will also be set up in two of the street-side parking lots. In these areas visitors can shop from gourmet food vendors selling homemade oils, sweets and more as well as farm stands selling locally grown produce. Live music will be playing at the stage on Cotton Street throughout the day as well.
The festival serves as the kick-off for Manayunk’s Restaurant Week beginning Sunday, April 14, and running until Friday, April 26. Read more about Restaurant Week here.
