Celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Sunday, May 5, at one of the Philly’s liveliest parties, held at Chef Jose Garces’ modern Mexican restaurant, Distrito! The daylong festivities begin at 11 a.m. with affordable Brunch Specials and will continue until 10 p.m. with a live DJ, special pricing on Mexican beers, house margaritas and a menu of street food snacks and small plates.
“Cinco de Mayo is one of our favorite days of the year, and a great excuse to throw a huge party,” says Chef Garces. “We’ll be serving Mexican snacks, dancing to a great DJ and, of course, sipping tequila all night long.”
From 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., Chef de Cuisine Susan Vanvreede will complement the brunch menu with Cinco for Cinco Brunch Specials, five tasty brunch dishes for just $5 each. Specials will include Esquites—sweet corn with queso fresco, chipotle and lime; Chilaquiles—salsa ranchera, Mexican crema, queso fresco and fried egg; Choriqueso—Mexican chorizo with rajas; Revuelto—shirred green eggs with tomato, guajillo and flour tortillas; and Huevos y Jamon—two eggs any style with bacon.
Beginning at noon and continuing until 10 p.m., enjoy Beats and Street Eats with a DJ spinning in Distrito’s lounge while revelers sip $3 Corona Light drafts, $3 Modelo Especial cans and $5 El Jimador House Margaritas. A street food menu, perfect for grazing throughout the party, will include Guacamole with chips, Salsa Mexicana with chips, Veggie Nachos, Ropa and Carnitas Tacos, Adobo Chicken Alambres and much more!
