Have you heard? The Chester County Food Bank has moved to a new location! This amazing nonprofit group, which collects, grows, processes, stores and distributes food to those who serve the hungry of Chester County, can now be found in the Eagleview Corporate Center at 650 Pennsylvania Drive in Exton.
Help them christian their new digs at a breadmaking workshop on Saturday, September 7, from noon to 4 p.m. Join Mark Doberenz, baker at Soltane Breads and Spreads, who’ll be using oats from local favorite Pete’s Produce Farm in a hands-on workshop. We’ve got all the details:
From Grain to Bread, with Pete Flynn of Pete’s Produce & Mark Doberenz of Soltane Breads and Spreads
When: September 7, noon to 4 p.m.
Where: Chester County Food Bank, 650 Pennsylvania Drive, Exton
Cost: $10 (suggested)
This hands-on workshop will begin with an introduction to the processes of growing grains and milling flour. Armed with information about the benefits of local whole grain flour, workshop participants will then learn how to turn that flour into bread. This is a great opportunity for home bakers or individuals interested in baking to learn about sourdough bread and to connect with farmers who provide great local ingredients. Farmer Pete Flynn of Pete’s Produce and Baker Mark Doberenz of Soltane Breads and Spreads are teaming up for this great workshop. Pete grows on over 30 acres of grain right here in Chester County, and Mark is a phenomenal baker specializing in sourdough breads and other delicious treats.
