Yu’s Family Kitchen in Chengdu, Sichuan, China is garnering accolades worldwide for its creative take on classic Sichuan fare.
Yu’s has no menu; instead, diners call ahead to make a reservation, tell the restaurant how much they want to spend and let them know about any dietary restrictions. When they arrive at the restaurant, the culinary adventure begins!
Sixteen cold dishes are presented at the start of the meal, a tease at the 16 additional courses that will arrive later. Each dish is more artful and gorgeous than the last, with steamed red bean buns transformed into doughy hedgehogs, dumplings re-envisioned as calligraphy brushes and cubed jelly noodles disguised as tofu cubes.
