Delco Story Slam Reaches the Boiling Point!

Delco Story Slam logoHave you ever been angry? Really, really angry?

The theme for the August Delco Story Slam is Boiling Point!

The Delco Story Slam is a monthly event where courageous people take the stage and tell their five-minute true story in front of a live audience. They do it with no notes. No props. No music. Sound fun? You can step up to the mic too! Ten stories are usually heard on the night and the winner of each month’s Story Slam is invited to return for the Grand Slam in November, where the winners will go head-to-head for the title of Best Storyteller of Delco!

Not sure you have a story? Simply hang out and listen to others’ tales. Either way, the Delco Story Slam is a fun event to enjoy with family, friends or coworkers on a summer night. The theme “Boiling Point” can mean several things, but here’s inspiration from the Delco Story Slam website.

While we hope to hear stories about hot water, we really want hear stories of pent up anger. Some people let anger percolate slowly, only letting off steam a little at a time. Others can reach their boiling point rather quickly—whether at work, at home, at a party or on the road. What pet peeves make you mad? Maybe you once saw a stranger who had a festering anger building inside them or know of a family member who appears chronically mad about the world. Of course, we’ll also hear stories about making tea, scalding water, saunas and hidden deep springs.

The “Boiling Point” Story Slam will take place at Burlap and Bean on Wednesday, August 28, at 7 p.m. You can order your tickets here.

If you’d like to see what a real story looks like told on stage, here’s one of our favorite stories about anger, as told by Bradley Beck at a recent Delco Story Slam:
