The Table at Brandywine creates pop-up experiences that focus on culinary, visual and performing arts. Through a series of events and workshops that celebrate sustainable agriculture and community, each event curates a new experience based on a combination of chef, farm, artist and musician. As if that’s not enough to feel good about, the folks at The Table at Brandywine choose a community non-profit or cause to support for each event.
The next secret food experience, an Evening in Paris, takes place Friday, June 28th, at the Delaware Art Museum. The exhibit, “French Twist,” features 100 vintage prints from the golden age of French photography (1910-1940) and encompasses Eugène Atget, Man Ray and Henri Cartier-Bresson as well as works by Ilse Bing, Brassaï, Jacques-Henri Lartigue, André Kertész, and Dora Maar. The pieces are from the collection of Michael Mattis and Judith Hochberg.
Nothing is more French than fromage, so to accompany the theme, the Table at Brandywine is producing a cheese-tasting experience for attendees, featuring five French cheeses sourced from The Country Butcher in Kennett Square, Pa., including Saint Agur Bleu, St Angel Triple Cream (Cow’s Milk), Ossau Iraty by Onetik (Sheep’s Milk), La Bucheron (Goat’s Milk), and Morbier (Raw Cow’s Milk). Joanne Foggy, a French-inspired interior design consultant, will also be on hand to discuss decor. Guests can also savor French-inspired bread snacks made by pastry chef Rebecca Porter.
A special members-only showing runs 6–8 p.m. General admission begins at 8 p.m. Cost $5 and if you arrived dressed for the era, you score FREE admission!
