Goat Hollow Returns to Mt. Airy this January, Featuring New Ownership, Look & Menu

PhiladelphiaSalvageGoatHollowTablesEditor’s Update: Goat Hollow will officially open Jan. 21, 2013.

An old time favorite is making its grand return to Mt. Airy this January. Since the new operations began around November of 2012, the delicious duo behind Goat Hollow’s re-inventing, Neil Campbell and business partner Andy Shahan, are keeping things local. From the waitstaff to renovations and even tables custom-made by Philadelphia Salvage Company, this place is oozing with Brotherly Love talent. That may come as no surprise since Neil Campbell’s background falls within the Philadelphia realm as the owner of cozy Old City mainstay Race Street Café.

Metcalfe Architecture and Design, Fillippi Bros., Inc. and Design Nehez were also part of the rehab, redesign and custom creations for the space. “This place is being brought back to life for the locals, by the locals,” says Shahan.

GoatHollowExteriorExcitement has already built about the beloved neighborhood restaurant that closed eight years ago, but we have a feeling emotions will sky rocket to an all new joyful level once guests get a taste of the American Brasserie cuisine and refreshing sips. Goat Hollow’s menu will be crafted and executed by Chef Adam Glickman, a former Mt. Airy resident himself who gained kitchen know-how in Center City’s favorite place for beer and pub fare, Monk’s Cafe. Chef Glickman’s menu will be filled with hearty entrees, burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads and more.

Menu highlights include:

  • Potted Terrine of Wild Boar, with pickled vegetables, toast points and fruit sauce
  • Oyster Muffaleta Sandwich, battered and deep-fried oysters with olive tapenade, lettuce, tomato and onion
  • Wissahickon Burger, with duck liver pâté and truffled cheese
  • Cold-Smoked Cowboy Ribeye, a 16-oz. bone-in grilled steak served with potatoes au gratin, greens and veal demi-glace.

The menu’s host of sides are as appealing, including Drunken Mushrooms and Brussels Sprouts.

To complement the menu, Campbell and Shahan will compile a venerable craft beer list as well as an artisan cocktail program, including house-infused liquors and syrups. In the beer end of things, expect to spy Rodenbach Belgian Grand Cru aside local breweries’ options, plus two rotating casks. Teases from the artisan cocktail menu include:

  • Goat’s Tail, a bourbon, lime juice, allspice syrup and whiskey barrel-aged bitters
  • Mt. Pleasant Manhattan, rye, Antica vermouth and whiskey barrel-aged bitters
  • Germantown Juice, raspberry, orange, lemon, pear and vanilla vodkas, orange liqueur and lime juice.
