Join the Chester County Historical Society (CCHS) for two special events in June!
Monday, June 17, History on Tap returns with an evening at The Dilworthtown Inn starting at 6:30 p.m. Artist Adrian Martinez will take you on a journey to the eighteenth century with a special preview of two paintings he has created for an upcoming exhibition at CCHS, History in the Making: A Contemporary Artist’s View of Chester County, 1750-1800. This exhibition will explore an era of wonder and change in the nation’s history; Martinez will both curate the exhibition and create a series of 12 paintings that capture the essence of the era. A 30-minute program will be followed by discussion, Q&A, conversation and, of course, lots of great food and drink available for purchase. History on Tap brings history to you in the casual atmosphere of your favorite local bar or restaurant. The program is free for the community to enjoy. June’s program will be held in the lower level dining area at The Dilworthtown Inn; space is limited to 50 on a first-come, first-served basis.
Saturday, June 22, join CCHS for an 1893s Pub Tour through West Chester! Discover the history and lore of some of the town’s finest drinking establishments. Hear some charming and curious stories about your favorite bars in West Chester—and share your own—as you drink a few pints, nibble on appetizers and test your wits with trivia about Chester County. The 1893s is a group focused on fostering an appreciation of our community among a new generation. Members are dedicated to supporting the activities of CCHS by connecting with local businesses, civic leaders and residents to preserve the rich history and culture of the region. Admission is free of charge, but donations to CCHS are welcome. Meet at CCHS, located at 225 N. High Street in West Chester, at 2 p.m. for the first stop on the pub tour. Or, join the group at Doc Magrogan’s Oyster House until 3:30 p.m. for half-price drinks and appetizers. RSVP for this event by email by June 19. The first 20 people to sign up will receive a “buy one entree, get one free entree” voucher for Doc’s! For more information about this event, call (610) 692-4800.
